44 updates · latest 11 October 2026

Peter Szakal is documenting a CFD 5,000 Challenge with The Trading Pit, after an earlier Blue Guardian indices attempt ended, as part of the JoinProp Real Prop Challenge.

What is the Real Prop Challenge?

Prop trading is usually told through screenshots and highlight reels. The Real Prop Challenge exists to show the rest of it. JoinProp covers the cost of the challenge, then steps back. The traders here run their own accounts, hit their own drawdowns, and write their own updates in their own words. Nothing is scripted and nothing is edited by us.

It is part of how the JoinProp community works. Rather than telling people what prop trading looks like, we let traders show it, week by week, whether the run ends in a payout or a blown account. Each profile below tracks who is trading, which firm and account they are on, and where they are right now.

How it works

  1. STEP 01

    Invited & signed

We invite a trader and they agree to the short participation terms.

  2. STEP 02

    Announcement post

They publish a kick-off post with the JoinProp disclosure.

  3. STEP 03

    We fund the challenge

Within 24 hours we buy the challenge account on their behalf.

  4. STEP 04

    They document it

Regular updates and a final summary, pass or fail.

Every trader

Open a portrait for that trader’s firm, rules and full update log.

Paid partnershipHe manually closed a EURGBP short as the week ended. He had expected it to reach his take profit sooner, but chose to secure the profit rather than hold the position over the weekend. His takeaway: flexibility, discipline and risk management are part of the process, and now it is time to review and prepare for next week.

Paid partnershipTrade 5 was a trade on MGCZ2026 (Micro Gold Futures) on the 5-minute chart, sized at 10 micro contracts, and it hit its stop loss. He says gold was moving strongly upward and breaking short-term structure, and the setup did not play out as expected. His lessons: respect the stop loss, never increase risk to recover a loss, check momentum and structure before entering, and protect capital first.

Paid partnershipTwo things he learned testing the SFX account. The drawdown can trail running equity, so an account $1,000 up on an open trade can breach its limit if the trade reverses into the stop. And news trading is allowed, but stops do not always fill where you placed them, so a position held through CPI or NFP can cost far more than planned.

Price reacted around the area, but the trade she took from that setup ended in a loss, and price has since continued to invalidate the level, so she has stopped looking for a reaction there. Paid partnershipDay 2 and another day flat. NASDAQ, S&P 500 and gold gave no clear bias, but the Russell was clean, with every range he uses bullish from 1H up to 2-Day. At the New York open price went straight to the highs of the 1H, 3H, 4H and 6H ranges, all around the same level. He wanted the full CRT sequence, a Turtle Soup, mitigation below the 3H range, then an entry near the 0.5 Gann level. It never developed, and bias alone is not a reason to enter.

Paid partnershipDay 1 and no trade. The CPI release at 14:30 had already produced a significant expansion across NASDAQ, Russell 2000, S&P 500 and XAUUSD, so waiting for another clean expansion into New York would have meant forcing a setup. Higher timeframes stayed bullish, particularly on the Russell, while the 1H and 3H structure showed bearish pressure, and he saw a Turtle Soup after the sweep at the open. Conflicting signals, so he stayed patient and observed.

Paid partnershipAfter passing two funded accounts recently, I failed one I was sure I’d pass – overconfidence around the CPI numbers. Stopped out twice at 2.2% risk, then price turned exactly as I’d expected. Failure is part of the business; I’m starting another challenge at month-end.

Paid partnershipOops – my 2.6R S&P 500 sell hit stop-loss after I refused to move to break-even (my rule: B.E only after 3R). Watching 2.6R turn into a loss stung, but no revenge trade and no bending the rules. Balance now $20,569.

Paid partnershipToday’s result: +$76.70. Took an early $28 loss on the Dow, then a winner brought the day green. It could have been bigger, but I’m satisfied – closing winners at 2R consistently would make a solid long-term edge.

Paid partnershipCapital preservation over everything. US30 was a volatility masterclass – I sized down and closed roughly breakeven through two news spikes, staying patient instead of forcing trades. Today: a high-probability NAS100 short off the 0.5/0.618 Fib zone at 29,800 ahead of U.S. inflation.

Paid partnershipBTC finally did its thing. After holding the trade for days – watching price come close, pull back, and test my patience – TP finally got hit. I closed a little earlier ahead of the news; the profit was already there and I had no reason to give it back. Profits secured. Account now sitting at $20,988+. JP225 is in a little drawdown, but we’re still very much in the game. One trade doesn’t make the account, one loss doesn’t break it either. Happy weekend my LinkedIn fam.

After taking a stop loss on EURUSD yesterday, my trading week is most likely over. There’s no need to force trades ahead of major economic releases. Paid partnershipToday’s result: +6.00 USD. I was in the red during the morning session, but I managed to recover and finish at break-even by the afternoon. Looking at the week as a whole, I can say it was a successful one. This is the sort of consistency I need to keep producing in the future.

Paid partnershipChallenge account update. EURAUD decided to remind me that this thing is called a challenge for a reason. Took the loss. Balance now sitting at $20,350+. But we move. Currently have two positions running: BTC buys and JP225 sell – both still in profit. The interesting one is BTC: I’ve been holding this trade for 4 days now, today makes it day 5 and it still hasn’t reached TP. I’m starting to see some signs the move might be losing steam. If price breaks below 64k, I’ll probably close it and take whatever the market gives me. No attachment to the trade – if the reason for staying in it disappears, I’m out. Let’s see how today plays out. Just like I promised from day one, I’m documenting the entire process here – the wins and losses, the waiting, the decisions nobody sees.

Paid partnershipYesterday I took a short position on BTC, but my execution wasn’t good enough. After entering the trade, the price action didn’t provide the confirmation I was looking for. Rather than hoping the market would move in my favour, I closed the position manually as soon as it was slightly profitable. In my trading journal I consider this a break-even (BE). Every trade is a lesson. Good trading isn’t about being right every time – it’s about managing risk, staying disciplined, and following the plan.

Paid partnershipShorted BTC yesterday. Poor entry and no PA confirmation, so I closed slightly green and logged it as BE. Discipline > hope.

Paid partnershipToday’s result: +106.60 USD. I only took one trade today, which shows good discipline – the market wasn’t particularly good this morning, so I didn’t open any positions. I’m pleased with the result. I did close my position earlier than I should have, because my dad surprised me with an ice cream and I decided to close the trade instead 🙂 That was a mistake on my part, as the trade could have made three times as much if I’d let it run.

Paid partnershipThe $100k Futures Challenge didn’t go my way this time. I took some solid wins along the way, but a stretch of losses eventually closed the account. A few reasons: I got a bit overconfident after good days and forced some lower-quality setups, didn’t stick to my risk limits as tightly as I should have, and let a couple of emotional decisions creep in after drawdowns. Classic lessons. Still, I had a blast putting in the work and testing myself – walking away with clearer rules and better habits. Huge thanks to Omer Rapaport, JoinProp, and The Trading Pit. Already looking forward to the next one. The journey continues.

Paid partnershipToday’s result: +49.40 USD. I finished the morning in profit, so the signs were already looking positive for the day. Throughout August I’ll be continuing the challenge with smaller position sizes – I need to build up a bit more room for manoeuvre before increasing my position sizes later on. So far, everything is going according to plan. Let’s hope the positive momentum continues.

Frequently asked questions

How the Real Prop Challenge works, who pays for what, and who writes the updates.

What is the Real Prop Challenge?

The Real Prop Challenge is a JoinProp community initiative that follows real traders through real prop firm challenges. JoinProp pays for the challenge account, and the trader documents the attempt publicly on their own channels, from the first trade through to a payout or a blown account.

Who pays for the prop firm challenge?

JoinProp does. We cover the cost of the challenge account so the trader can focus on trading it. The trader keeps control of the account and of everything they publish about it.

Who writes the trader updates?

The traders themselves. Every update on this page was written and published by the trader named on it, on their own social channels. JoinProp does not write, ghostwrite or edit them.

Which prop firms are involved?

Current challenges run with The Trading Pit, SFX Funded, Blue Guardian and AIFO. The firm, account size and trading platform are listed on each trader’s profile.

How are traders selected?

Traders are invited by JoinProp and sign on before the challenge begins. Each one is introduced in an announcement post, then starts documenting their attempt.

Are the results real?

Yes. These are live prop firm evaluation and funded accounts, not demo results or backtests. Updates are published by the traders as the challenge happens.

Can I join the Real Prop Challenge?

We are always looking for traders willing to document a challenge honestly, wins and losses included. Use the apply link in the challenge section above to get in touch.

What happens if a trader fails the challenge?

Nothing gets deleted. A failed challenge is exactly the kind of outcome this page exists to show, so the trader’s updates stay published alongside everyone else’s.

Paid partnership & risk disclosure

Traders featured here receive a funded challenge account from JoinProp in exchange for documenting their experience. All participant content is part of a paid partnership.
