One Prop Trader a Day – Episode 129

Omais Habibi
Omais Habibi is a 19-year-old trader from Frankfurt, Germany, with around three years of trading behind him. He trades the ES futures contract and EUR/USD on the 1-minute timeframe, mixing scalping and day trading around support and resistance, liquidity and Fixed Range Volume Profile. He has traded with Apex Trader Funding. Here is his story, in his own words.
What do you do when your stop loss does not trigger and you are suddenly almost 400 dollars down? Omais Habibi, a 19-year-old trader from Frankfurt, Germany, stayed calm and rebuilt the account, and that discipline has kept his Apex funded account alive since May 2026. In this interview, he explains why giving up was never an option, how he scalps the ES and EUR/USD on the 1-minute chart, his biggest payout of over 4,500 dollars, and why he recommends Apex to beginners.
My name is Omais, I’m 19 years old and I’m from Frankfurt, Germany. I mainly trade futures and forex, especially the ES and EUR/USD. I started trading around three years ago, first on a demo account, and have been learning and developing my approach ever since.
I got my first funded account in May 2026 with Apex Trader Funding. I was really happy, but at the same time, it didn’t fully feel real. I also knew that getting funded was only the beginning. From that point, I focused even more on discipline, risk management and keeping the account alive.
With my first trading payout, I put part of the money aside for trading and used the rest for a trip to Switzerland. It was one of the first moments where trading started to feel real to me.
I failed one challenge before getting funded. My main motivation was ambition. Ever since I discovered trading, I felt that I could make it work and wanted to prove it to myself. Giving up was never really an option, and I genuinely enjoy learning about the markets.
The most expensive lesson I’ve paid for was probably around 200-300 dollars from my early live trading. The biggest lesson was about emotions and patience. I learned that even with a good strategy, you can still lose money if you don’t have the discipline to follow your plan.
Trading has definitely been stressful at times, especially after taking a stop loss. I sometimes looked back at the chart and questioned whether the trade was really an A+ setup, which led to a lot of overthinking. Now I try to accept individual losses and focus on the bigger picture. Taking breaks and going for walks also helps me clear my mind.
So far, I’ve mainly traded with Apex Trader Funding. For me, fair rules, fast payouts and reliable support are the most important things when choosing a prop firm.
I mainly trade the ES and EUR/USD on the 1-minute timeframe. I would describe my style as a mix of scalping and day trading. I focus on support and resistance, liquidity and use Fixed Range Volume Profile to help identify important areas.
I usually wake up about an hour before the London Open, have breakfast and then prepare for the markets. I mark important levels and check the news. After that, I wait for my setups and usually take around one to three trades per day.
My most recent losing trade was on the ES. The setup matched my plan and I entered with a limit order, but I wasn’t watching the chart and my stop loss didn’t trigger as expected. When I checked again, I was almost 400 dollars down.
I was able to stay calm and build the account back up afterwards. Looking back, I would make sure my orders are working properly before stepping away from the charts.
My biggest payout so far has been over 4,500 dollars from trading EUR/USD on a live account. Becoming funded was also a big milestone for me. More importantly, I’m proud that I’ve been able to keep my funded account alive while taking smaller profits consistently.
The people around me don’t really understand what I do. My family and friends were skeptical at first and didn’t see trading as a real job. They still don’t fully understand it, but they support me and take it more seriously now.
I think the biggest difference is mainly my mindset. I’m ambitious and giving up has never really been an option for me. When something goes wrong, I try to learn from it instead of walking away.
If I were given a 1 million dollar funded account today, I wouldn’t suddenly take huge trades just because the account is bigger. I would keep trading the same way and risk around 0.5-1% per trade. My priority would be protecting the account, staying consistent and managing the bigger capital responsibly.
My take on the firms
Overall, I’ve had a good experience with Apex Trader Funding. The rules are reasonable, my payouts went through without problems, and the support has also been good.
I would especially recommend Apex to beginners because the initial cost is relatively affordable and it gives you a good opportunity to test yourself in prop trading.
