About Rana Harris Saleem
Rana Harris Saleem is a funded forex trader from Pakistan who focuses mainly on gold (XAUUSD). He trades with Smart Money Concepts and Volume Spread Analysis, reading market structure and liquidity: marking higher-timeframe structure on H1 and M15 and executing on M5 and M1 using tools like BOS, MSS, liquidity sweeps, FVGs, and order blocks. He is candid that getting funded shifted his focus from chasing profits to consistency, risk management, and protecting capital.
Quick intro โ who are you, and what do you trade?
My name is Rana Harris Saleem, and I am from Pakistan. I am a funded forex trader focused mainly on XAUUSD (Gold). My approach is based on Smart Money Concepts and Volume Spread Analysis, along with market structure and liquidity.
When did you become a funded trader? What changed for you at that point?
Becoming funded changed my mindset completely. I stopped chasing profits and started focusing on consistency, risk management, and preserving capital.
What is the first thing you bought with trading money that felt like proof it was working?
The first thing I did was support my family and cover personal expenses. That was the moment trading felt real to me.
How many times did you fail before getting funded? What kept you going?
I failed multiple evaluations before becoming funded. Every failure taught me something about discipline, patience, and risk management.
What is the single most expensive lesson you have paid for?
My most expensive lesson cost me several challenge accounts. The lesson was simple: overtrading and breaking risk rules can destroy weeks of progress in a single day.
What was your lowest point in trading? Did you ever consider quitting?
My lowest point was after losing multiple accounts in a row. I questioned myself, but I never seriously considered quitting, because I believed success was possible with enough discipline.
Did trading ever affect you mentally or emotionally?
Absolutely. Trading tested my patience, emotions, and self-control more than anything else. Learning emotional discipline was just as important as learning technical analysis.
What does your trading style look like today?
I primarily trade gold (XAUUSD). I analyze higher-timeframe structure on H1 and M15 and execute entries on M5 and M1 using SMC concepts such as BOS, MSS, liquidity sweeps, FVGs, and order blocks.
What is a typical trading day for you?
I start by marking key levels and market structure. I wait for price to reach my areas of interest, then look for confirmation before entering. If my setup does not appear, I simply stay out of the market.
Walk us through your most recent losing trade.
My last losing trade followed all my rules. The setup was valid, but the market moved against me. The lesson is that even perfect setups can lose, which is why risk management is critical.
What is a popular trading rule you completely ignore, and why?
I do not believe every trader must trade every day. Sometimes the best trade is no trade at all.
Do people around you understand what you do? How do they react?
Not everyone understands trading, especially prop trading. Most people only see the results and not the work behind them.
How has trading impacted your lifestyle?
Trading has given me more flexibility and freedom over my time. It has also taught me discipline that carries over into other areas of life.

His funded trading certificates.
What separates you from someone who washed out at their third evaluation?
Persistence. Many people stop after a few failures. I chose to learn from every setback and keep improving.
What advice would you give yourself one year ago?
Focus less on profits and more on process. Consistency creates profitability.
If prop firms disappeared tomorrow, would you still be trading? Doing what?
Yes, I would still trade. I would continue building my personal trading capital and focus on long-term consistency.
If I gave you a $1,000,000 funded account today, what would you do in the first 7 days?
I would do exactly what I do now: follow my proven strategy, respect risk management, and avoid increasing risk just because the account size is larger.
