One Prop Trader a Day – Episode 24

About Autt
Autt Promkhunthong is a trend-following trader from Thailand who trades mainly gold and indices. Rather than predicting where the market will go, he focuses on psychological levels, fixed risk, and trailing stops, letting his winners run. His edge came from a shift in mindset – valuing consistency and risk management over being right – and a routine simple enough that he often checks the charts just once a day.
Q Who are you, and what do you trade?
A My name is Autt, I’m from Thailand, and I trade mainly gold and indices using a trend-following approach. I focus on psychological levels, fixed risk, and trailing stops rather than predicting where the market will go.
Q When did you become a funded trader, and what changed for you?
A I became funded after realizing that trading is more about consistency and risk management than being right all the time. The biggest change was my mindset – I stopped chasing trades and started focusing on execution.
Q How did you feel when you became funded for the first time?
A The first time I became funded, I felt relieved more than excited. It gave me confidence that my system and discipline could actually work in real market conditions.

Q How many times did you fail before getting funded, and what kept you going?
A I failed multiple times before getting funded. Most of the failures came from overtrading, revenge trading, and breaking my own rules. What kept me going was knowing that every mistake was showing me what needed to change.
Q What was your lowest point, and did you ever consider quitting?
A My lowest point was when I kept switching systems and doubting myself after losses. There were moments I thought about quitting, but deep down I knew the problem was not the market – it was my discipline and emotional control.
Q Did trading ever affect you mentally or emotionally?
A Definitely. Trading affected me mentally a lot in the beginning. I dealt with stress, fear of losing, overtrading, and constantly checking charts. Over time I learned that the less emotional I become, the better I trade.
Q What does your trading style look like today?
A Today my trading style is very simple. I focus on trend-following setups around key psychological levels. I use fixed stop losses, no fixed take profit, and I trail my positions. I mostly check the charts once a day instead of watching every candle.
“One good trend can change everything.”Autt Promkhunthong
Q What’s a typical trading day for you?
A My routine is quiet and structured. I check the charts in the morning, look for high-quality setups, place my trade if everything aligns, and then step away. I don’t like staring at the charts all day anymore. I usually adjust my trailing stop once a day and let the market do the rest.
Q Do people around you understand what you do?
A Most people around me don’t fully understand trading, especially the emotional side of it. Some people think it’s gambling, but the people closest to me have seen how much discipline and patience it actually requires.
Q How has trading impacted your lifestyle?
A Trading changed the way I think about life. It taught me patience, emotional control, and responsibility. It also made me value freedom and time much more than before.

Q What keeps you motivated to continue trading?
A What keeps me motivated is the idea of long-term growth and mastery. I’m motivated by becoming better every year, not just making money quickly.
Q What would you tell your younger self?
A I would tell my younger self: ‘Stop trying to predict every move. Focus on protecting your capital, controlling your emotions, and staying consistent. One good trend can change everything.’
Q If you were given a $1,000,000 funded account today, what would you do in the first 7 days?
A If I received a $1,000,000 funded account today, the first thing I would do is reduce my risk and stay extremely disciplined. I wouldn’t suddenly trade aggressively. I would spend the first 7 days observing, following my exact system, and protecting the account because survival is the most important thing in trading.
