Index price
What does Index price mean?
An index price is a reference derived from selected market-price inputs under a published methodology. Crypto derivatives commonly use a weighted reference from several underlying markets.
Example
A benchmark combines prices from multiple venues instead of relying only on the latest trade on one exchange.
Illustrative example; not a provider’s quoted offer. Why it matters for prop traders
Components, weights and fallback rules can change. An index is a reference value, not a guarantee that an order can execute at that price.
