One Prop Trader a Day – Episode 30

About Eren
Eren Çavuş is a 24-year-old forex trader from Turkey who got funded for the first time in 2023, at just 21, with a 10K account, and used his first payout to clear some debts. He is a systematic, algorithmic trader who coded his own strategies – a 5-minute momentum and trend system and a 1-hour trend follower – so he rarely watches charts anymore. After six or seven failed challenges and more than a few moments of doubt, he treats trading as a numbers game played over many trades, not one.
Q Who are you, and what do you trade?
A My name is Eren. I am from Turkey. I am 24 years old now. I trade forex.
Q When did you become a funded trader, and what changed for you?
A I became a funded trader in 2023. It was an incredible feeling, but it was just the start of a bigger career, because managing funded accounts is more important than just passing the challenge.
Q How did you feel when you became funded for the first time?
A I became a funded trader with 10K, so it was nice for a 21-year-old. I paid some of my debts with my first payout.
Q How many times did you fail before getting funded, and what kept you going?
A I guess 6 or 7 times. I kept going because it is an incredible chance to grow.
“You make money over 50 trades, not on just one.”Eren Çavuş
Q What was your lowest point, and did you ever consider quitting?
A I wanted to quit more than 10 times because of the uncertain future of my career. You never know what is going to happen in the next 10 minutes of trading. My lowest point was when I blew up one of my funded accounts, and it was hard because it was all my income, but then I kept going. Also, I live in Turkey, so sometimes it is hard to find the money to apply for a challenge.
Q Did trading ever affect you mentally or emotionally?
A Of course; if someone says no, it is a lie. The biggest problem was handling my normal life while my trades were open, and sometimes I couldn’t handle losing a trade, so I kept opening more trades after a loss.
Q What does your trading style look like today?
A I have 2 different strategies. One is for the 5min chart with a momentum and trend filter; the other is the 1 hour chart with a trend follower. I coded my trading strategies, so most of the time I don’t look at the chart anymore. I only trade forex.

Q What’s a typical trading day for you?
A First, I filter the pairs so I can see which one is best for that day. Second, I check the news for the major pairs; if one of them has a 3-level impact on the currency, I don’t open a trade on that chart. After that I start to use my strategy. If I have time that day, I use my manual strategies and the robot at the same time.
Q Do people around you understand what you do?
A No, most of them don’t get it. I am not trying to explain what I do. I just do it by myself.
Q How has trading impacted your lifestyle?
A I give myself a holiday depending on the news in forex. Sometimes I need to check the charts or news at that moment, so if I am not available at that time, it is hard to make a quick call.
Eren’s Funded Certificates

Q What keeps you motivated to continue trading?
A Being independent, not just financially. If you are successful at trading, you are free to move wherever you want. You can do this job in Spain, France or Rio. You just need a laptop and an internet connection, and you can earn in any currency you want. You don’t need to be in the same location for the rest of your life. I am not perfect at this job yet; I am just making money, so I haven’t reached that level yet.
Q What would you tell your younger self?
A Always run backtests before using a strategy. Test a strategy for at least 6 months before using it on a real account. Don’t waste time on useless indicators. Try to understand the market, otherwise you are just trying to make money on one trade. If you can see trading as a game, you will understand that you make money over 50 trades, not on just one. Understand the basic logic of making money in trading: (win rate x RR) minus (lose rate x 1). Don’t spend all your time at prop firms; put at least 200 to 300 dollars into your own account and try to grow it. And do a lot of things for your mental health: read, walk, run, but don’t just sit in front of the computer.
Q If you were given a $1,000,000 funded account today, what would you do in the first 7 days?
A First, I would connect my other funded accounts to this one and then set the risk management rules. After that, I would just keep doing whatever I do right now.
