End-of-day drawdown

By Omer Rapaport · Content updated 11 September 2026

Also searched as: EOD, EOD trailing drawdown

What does End-of-day drawdown mean?

End-of-day drawdown usually means the trailing threshold updates using session-closing values. It does not necessarily mean violations are checked only at the close.

Example

The floor updates tonight, but an open loss can still breach today’s existing floor at noon.

Illustrative example; not a provider’s quoted offer.

Why it matters for prop traders

Distinguish the time the threshold moves from the time the account is monitored.

Does end-of-day mean I can go below the floor during the day?

Not necessarily. A provider can update the floor only after the session closes while enforcing the existing floor throughout the session. Read the threshold-update rule and the breach-monitoring rule as two separate instructions.

Sources and further reading

The following primary sources support the terminology. Provider rules describe their own products and may change.
